Is It Just My Imagination ?

Below is an excerpt from the book:

Imagination by its nature changes aspects of the current reality – if only in our minds. That change may involve trying to recreate the world in fundamental ways. At other times, the change may involve imagining ways to support fundamental realities. For instance, in Romans 12, Christians are urged to have their minds renewed. This new way of thinking about things means envisioning ways to keep God’s commands. Philippians 4:8 describes the thoughts and hence the kinds of imaginations that inhabit the mind yielded to God. The Christian’s mind aims to support the things of God rather than to fundamentally transform it. As Jesus says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God.”

The first sin was about transforming God’s world. This transformation effort continues on a number of social fronts. This is to be distinguished from change within God’s world. In the transformation case, fundamental relationships are changed.  “And finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Phil. 4:8, ASV). 23 Matthew 6:33. 24 Daniel 7:25 talks about effort to make fundamental changes in the world the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.” Instead of being under God’s authority in his world, man could reach a status of equality. Up to this time, man had lived under God, furthering God’s purposes. In imagining the change, God’s eternal power and Godhead were neglected. As said in other portions of scripture, “Who has succeeded against God?” People who set out to change the order God has set in place set themselves against God. God, being nondependent (aseity), does not need to acquiesce to the change of his world.
